What Makes a Strong Composition?

"Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful." ~ John Maeda

Following this beautiful and to the point quote by Japanese-American graphic designer, computer scientist, and author John Meada, eliminating unwanted and distracting elements within our composition and creating a well balanced, harmonious image goes a long way.

So, how do we achieve this?

There are a couple simple ways to go about this: Cropping in closer with our telephoto zoom lenses or by changing positions and moving tripods and gear a bit closer to the subject often does the trick. In addition checking an image for unwanted noise one more time before releasing the shutter often leads to stronger compositions as well.

Creating more Intimate Landscape Photography images is tricky but very rewarding.

Good light and happy photo making!
